Why we do what we do

We believe that a software company can be commercially successful while being honest about its numbers, fair to its clients and employees, and generous with the broader engineering community. Resengi is our effort to put that belief into practice.

Our mission

To be good people doing good work in the most open, honest, and fair way that we can.

Our vision

A software company where every dollar is accounted for in public, every engagement leaves something useful behind for the wider world, and the team eventually builds products of its own that carry the same principles forward.

Resengi is being built in two phases. Phase 1 establishes the foundation through client work. Phase 2 introduces our own products, addressing several ideas for improved tooling around AI generation and quality, as well as various applications built to enhance the lives of the people who use them. The transition will be gradual, funded by the work and team built in Phase 1.

Core values

These three values are the foundation that everything else at Resengi is built on.

Honesty

We tell the truth, especially when it is uncomfortable. We deliver bad news directly. We acknowledge mistakes. If something is going wrong on a project, the client hears about it from us first.

Transparency

Honesty is what we say; transparency is what we show. Our financials are published, our pricing is broken down and explained, and we choose openness as a default because we believe it is the right way to operate.

Fairness

Clients pay what the work actually costs plus a fair, disclosed margin. Employees and contractors are compensated fairly. When the books come in better than expected, the savings are passed along.

Guiding principles

These principles shape how we apply our core values in practice.

Openness

We contribute to the open-source community as a default. Tooling we build that is not client-specific is released publicly. We believe the engineering community is stronger when its members give back to it, and we want to be part of that.

Technical Excellence

Our values do not substitute for quality. We are engineers first, and we take pride in building software that works, scales, and lasts. We are willing to push back when we think a technical decision is wrong, and we are willing to do the harder work of testing, documentation, and maintenance.

Pay It Forward

Don't pay it back, pay it forward. We try to leave the world a little better than we found it. This is the through-line that connects everything else: open-source contribution, fair pricing, honest communication, and the long-term vision of building products that solve real problems.
